5 Reasons Why Date Night Could Save Your Marriage

5 Reasons Why Date Night Could Save Your Marriage

We have something to admit to you. We’ve skipped date night. A lot. Gasp. I know. We’re terrible people. Ok, all sarcasm aside, it really is a big deal for us. I mean, we create content for our website  ENTIRELY about date nights. So if we’re not keeping ourselves accountable in our marriage, how are we supposed to help you stay accountable to dating in your marriage? But on the flip side, we can relate to you. There’s this little thing called life – I’m sure you’ve heard of it – and it loves to do things like make you jump through flaming hoops of fire. Ok, I admit our lives are a little crazy right now and that is an over exaggeration. Life can hit and it can certainly make you busy with the end result being you and your partner missing date nights as the weeks go on. Ok, Stacey, what’s the big fuss? We do date night on occasion, we have much bigger things to worry about, and our marriage is fine. …

Date night ideas for a rainy day

15 Date Ideas for a Rainy Day

Now that my wonderful wife and I have started to nestle back in to living in the great Pacific Northwest, a stark reality hit us. It rains all the time in winter. I grew up here and fully expected this. Being the outdoorsy person I am, this didn’t register as a problem as rain means snow in the mountains, which then means I’m in the mountains. Simple math for a simple man. Anyways, now that I have chosen to join my life with someone else, I realized that this can’t always be the case. Bummer or opportunity in disguise? I’ll let you be the judge but I’ve tended towards the latter. Here are a few ways you can have just as much – if not more – fun on a date night with your boo while the heavens rain down. Take in some art – When it’s bright and sunny you usually don’t think about going to a museum so… if it’s raining this might be your shot. There is always a local historical society …

Why you Forgot about Date Night

One thing I keep hearing from friends and family is that they don’t have enough time to go on a date night with their significant other or they meant to but forgot. Why is it so easy to write off some of the most potentially rewarding memories of your relationship? We all get busy; that’s just a part of life these days. Not that I completely agree with it myself, but I fall victim to it just as much as anyone else. A date night on top of a full work day, mixed in with possibly kids, volunteering, and other commitments can feel like it has no place in the week. Then the weekend comes and it’s time for chores, friends, and more commitments. It’s a vicious cycle, but then again no one ever said life was easy. This might seem like a bit of a downer up to this point. I’m with you 100%, but do we pay attention to whispers or war cries? Date night is meant to be a time for communication, …

Date Night Worthy Recipe: Dairy-Free 2-Ingredient Banana Ice Cream

This post comes on the heels of another creation by our resident Tonight’s Better Together Chef, Joe Choi. He brought you an amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe previously and now he’s come to finish the job by helping turn those cookies into ice cream cookie sandwiches! If you’re not quite sure about dairy free ice cream, get ready to have your mind blown.    Banana ice cream is exactly what it sounds like. It’s ice cream that is solely made up of bananas. This is a relatively easy ice cream to make and it is dairy-free, which means this will be delicious for everyone. Basically you want to take some ripe bananas, but not banana bread ripe, and peel and slice them into medallions. Next, spread them out on a tray and place them in the freezer for 15-25 minutes or until they are solid yet pliable, not frozen solid. Then you’ll want to use a food processor and blitz all the banana medallions until it starts to become smooth. Sometimes I will add a …

Date Night Worthy Recipe: Chocolate Chip Blondies

We’ve got another post curated by our resident Tonight’s Better Together Chef, Joe Choi. He’s got a two part recipe offering  the best dang plain bondies or chocolate chip blondies that can be adapted into chocolate chip cookies for your consuming pleasure. Read on to see how he takes a simple recipe to the next level just in time for date night.   It just so happened that my lovely friends, Eric and Stacey, managed to stop by my little hometown of Spokane on their move back west. We decided to make the best of it and collaborated on a recipe together, in person for once. It was a hot and muggy afternoon so we figured what better way to enjoy a summer day than with fresh baked desserts and some ice cream. I was told they had already posted a phenomenal chocolate chip cookie recipe but I implored them to try my personal chocolate chip cookie recipe that could easily be converted into a blondie recipe. To top it off, a little non-dairy, peanut …

I could probably eat pizza for the rest of my life and never get tired of it since you can make anything into a pizza. Have you ever had a taco pizza? How about a Big Mac pizza? If not, then you are missing out on a slice of hand-held, cheesy pleasure. But fear not, here is a relatively easy pizza dough recipe that will give you a great foundation to make any kind of pizza you can imagine. The possibilities are infinite and the world is your oyster, as long as you make into an oyster pizza. Thin Crust Pizza Dough Ingredients: 2.2lbs Bread Flour* 2 oz corn meal 1 …

Happy 4th of July

A Big Announcement + A Happy Fourth of July

We have a big announcement to share with you. After three years of incredible adventures, amazing food, unforgettable people, challenging weather, and the perfect place to start our marriage, we’re saying a bittersweet farewell to Rhode Island and starting a new chapter of our lives in Seattle, Washington. Stay tuned for an epic road trip through the northern half of the U.S. soon! We’re also excited to be celebrating the Fourth of July in Rhode Island one last time. One of the New England things we will greatly miss is the patriotism here. This is, after all, the epicenter of where the United States became its own country and it’s an honor to celebrate on the land where battles were fought, sacrifices were made, and freedom was won. To those of you in the U.S., we hope you have a happy …

Quick and easy ahi tuna poke recipe

Quick and Easy Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl Recipe

Another creation out of the kitchen of Chef Choi is ready for your next date night: the simple yet delicious poke bowl. If you say poke bowl fast it sort of sounds like poke ball. Yes, this is a really nerdy comment but it made me laugh. If you are a sushi fanatic but making sushi from scratch seems like a daunting feat, then you will fall in love with this easy recipe.   Poke is a Hawaiian raw fish dish that is typically made with tuna. It’s not seared or cooked in any way nor is it “cooked” like ceviche. So, if you’re into Sashimi then this flavorful recipe is a nice change of pace. I like to devour my poke over rice so that the sauce and all the juices seep into the rice while I eat it. Poke is a relatively easy dish to make; all you need is the ingredients, a little knife work, and some patience. First you want to cut the tuna into ½” by ½” cubes. Next, take …
